I have been living in Oceanside, CA, since graduating from the U of A. My husband and I have done many bicycling trips, including France, New Zealand, and most recently, Chile and Argentina. We thoroughly enjoy meeting the people of the area, and seeing the country up close and personal, and this seems to be a good way to do it.
FAMILY: I have 5 children, 4 sons and 1 daughter, who all live nearby. Three sons are teachers, one son a fireman/paramedic, and our daughter is a pediatrician. So far we have 6 grandchildren, 6 years old and younger. So nice to be able to visit them often and then go home to peace and quiet!
EDUCATION AND CAREER: I graduated with a teaching degree and taught 6th grade for 18 years, taking some time off to raise my children. Teaching is a tough, but rewarding, job, and I certainly remember the teachers that made a difference in my education.
OPINIONS: In my wise "older" age, I have decided to keep a low profile when it comes to sharing my political and religious views. It's hard to change minds, and too easy to make enemies!
AVOCATIONS: My hobbies/ sports include bicycling and racquetball, although it's getting harder to find anyone my age who wants to play anymore! We took up golf about 3 years ago and love it, despite the fact that it's very humbling.
STORY: I still think of the time Gloria, Gala, and myself took my sister's car(without her permission) for a long ride out to the Desert Museum. We were on a dirt road and when we rounded the curve the car hit a soft shoulder and went up an embankment and refused to go anymore. We got a ride back to Gala's house from some kind person and Mr. Crotts had to drive us back with his truck to tow the car home. Needless to say, I wasn't too popular when I got home. Gloria and Gala sure thought it was funny!
